- “We will continue to release one-stop solutions meeting the characteristics of each public institution”

SK rent-a-car began to preoccupy the public procurement market with its comprehensive automobile management solution, 'Smartlink’ by significantly reinforcing the security and stability required by public institutions.

SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il -moon) announced on the 4th that it had registered ‘G-Smartlink’, which is a ‘Smartlink’ developed exclusively for public institutions, in the Korea ON-line E-Procurement System (KONEPS) of the Public Procurement Service.

While ‘Smartlink’ is a comprehensive automobile management solution designed by SK Rent-a-Car for general companies, G-Smartlink is an optimized version of it for the use of public institutions. Smartlink was solely developed by SK rent-a-car in 2017, providing various services necessary for vehicle operation and management. The services include 'vehicle management' based on real-time driving information and 'car sharing solution' that allows sharing of company car information. It has provided services for more than 50,000 accounts from 300 companies encompassing public institutions and private companies, including SK Group. It has been five years since its launch, and its technological prowess is currently being highly recognized.

Some of the advantages of G-Smartlink are outstanding convenience with customized services and improved information security.

G-Smartlink is a tailored service, taking into account the work environment and characteristics of public institutions and enhancing users' convenience. Due to the fact that public institutions usually operate vehicles by an organization, each department has a different usage pattern in terms of hours and frequency. Using G-Smartlink's 'car sharing solution’ will enable users to easily check the usage status of the vehicle in real-time, make reservations, and return the car through a smartphone. In this way, both vehicle operation rate and user convenience can be raised. On top of that, users can revise the form 'operation log’, which is essential for operation management, as desired by each local government.

“We also provide a 'safe driving index' in line with the entry into force of the Serious Accident Punishment Act, a recent big issue in the industry,” an SK Rent-a-car official said. “It is an objective and quantified index of a user’s driving habit such as a quick start or a sudden brake. We provide it so as to ultimately induce safe driving,” he added.

SK rent-a-car has combined a highly secured 'Naver Cloud Platform' for public institutions, enabling the storage, management, and utilization of various operating information in a strictly protected environment. In the event of a failure, prompt support is available anytime and anywhere through remote control. As a result, the company acquired the 'Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP)' certification in the Software as a Service (SaaS) field by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) for the first time in the industry in December last year, in recognition of its 'stability' and 'reliability' of the service.

‘NAVER Cloud’ received certifications from Cloud Security Alliance, Security, Trust & Assurance Registry (CSA STAR) for the first time as a domestic cloud service provider, and also security certification from Korea Internet & Security Agency.

When it comes to being listed in the Korea On-line E-Procurement System, KONEPS, for the first time in the industry, people say that it opens the door for public organizations to use SK Rent-a-car’s G-Smartlink with better ‘accessibility’ and ‘convenience of use’. Currently, Gapyeong-gun Office is conducting a pilot test for the adoption of the service. And Sasang-gu Office, Busan Metropolitan City and Yangpyeog-gun Office that are using the existing Smartlink plan to phase in G-Smartlink.

An SK rent-a-car official said, “the listing of G-Smartlink in KONEPS makes it more convenient to use the service. Going forward, we continue to roll out one-stop vehicle management services suitable for each characteristic of various public organizations such as cities, counties, or districts.
