SK rent-a-car is offering a new option in the domestic electric car rental market.

SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang, Il-Moon) announced on the 3rd that the advance bookings would open up for Swedish premium EV ‘Polestar 2’.

The event also features a very popular model, ‘Polestar 2’ made by Swedish EV-maker ‘Polestar’. The number of preorders for this model surpassed its sales estimates of 4,000 units only one week after its first release last month in Korea. The monthly rate for the vehicle is around KRW 990,000. (※ Based on 48 month contract period, 30,000 km contract distance, and waiver of initial payment)

The company is opening the book in limited quantities starting today on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers can book for rental on its online rental platforms, the SK rent-a-car website (www.skcarrental.com), or the SK rent-a-car Direct website (www.skdirect.co.kr). The reserved rentals will be delivered to customers in order from March. For more details, visit its official social media channels on Instagram, Facebook and Naver blog.

In addition, another benefit awaits customers who preorder Polestar or other long-term car rental and complete the pick-up of the rental. It is one-year free EV charging, worth around KRW 750,000 if you drive 1,000 kilometers per month on average. (※ Based on KRW 300 for charging per 1 kWh, electrical energy efficiency is 4.8 km/kWh) The details regarding this will be given at the time of contract.

Furthermore, ‘Polestar 2’ is supposed to be available at its Jeju branch within the first half of this year. To be in line with the government’s carbon-neutral policy as well as to disseminate eco-friendly vehicles, the company has established an EV-exclusive complex representing Korea on Jeju Island since June last year. The complex will serve as an advance guard by giving 1,300,000 customers the experience of using EVs. The complex is slated for completion in 2025.
