On the 2nd of December, SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) announced that it had acquired its first 'Best Family-friendly Management’ certification since its founding (inception of the former, AJ rent-a-car) on the 1st of this month.

The Family-friendly Management Certification was first introduced in 2008 by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. It grants certifications to companies and public institutions that operate exemplary family-friendly systems, such as childbirth and childcare support, flexible working systems, and family-friendly work culture.

In response to societal changes, such as a low birth rate, an aging population, and the growing economic activities of women, the certification was introduced to create a family-friendly social environment in which workers can balance their life and work in a harmonious manner.

Since the launch of the integrated corporation last year, SK rent-a-car has made continuous efforts to create a family-friendly corporate culture with its childbirth and childcare support, flexible working hours, daycare centers at the workplace, and family-care leave. On top of that, the company has persistently expanded employee welfare benefits. For example, it has created and operated maternity protection spaces, such as nursing rooms, recovery rooms, and medical rooms. It also provides family recreation facilities, supports family health checkups, operates academic support programs for employees' children, and offers leaves for long-term service.

SK rent-a-car passed the document review and employee satisfaction survey in June, and on-site inspection by related organizations in September, followed by final approval for the family-friendly management certification. The certification is effective by the end of November 2024.

A company official said, “we could obtain the certification in recognition of our endeavors to operate a high level of family-friendly systems.” He added, “We will continue to pursue work-life balance by successfully operating the family-friendly system.”
