SK rent-a-car launches ‘extended warranty service’ for up to 12 months targeting long-term rental car customers

SK rent-a-car creating a convenient mobility life for customers, is taking a step to enhance customer value for customers who try to take over long-term rental cars.


SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) announced on the 8th of November that it collaborates with ‘Korea Automotive Diagnostic Assurance Society’ and ‘Carrot General Insurance’ to provide affiliated benefits for its customers taking over their long-term rental vehicles.


An SK rent-a-car official said, “according to our internal resource, the number of customers taking over long-term rental cars has grown by more than 80% compared to the previous year per month on average, and it is gradually increasing.” He also added, “this affiliated service is promoted to raise the convenience of after-rental care by alleviating the cost burden of car maintenance and insurance fees for the customers taking over rental cars they have used for multiple years.”


First, SK rent-a-car launched the service to extend the vehicle repair service period after customers take over their long-term rental cars (hereinafter referred to as ‘extended warranty service’) in collaboration with Korea Automotive Diagnostic Assurance Society for the first time in the rental car industry.


The extended warranty service allows customers taking over long-term rental cars to select 6 months (10,000km mileage) or 12 months (20,000km mileage) and guarantees about 110 essential parts, including engine, transmission, and steering for the selected period. The subscribers to the service can use more than 250 repair shops nationwide in connection with the Society.


The long-term rental customers who have a contract period* of five years or more with an accumulated mileage of less than 100,000km without any accident record are able to subscribe to the extended warranty service. The accident-free history will be verified on-site by the nationally-accredited automobile analyzer from Korea Automotive Diagnostic Assurance Society. The sub_ion fee for domestic cars is KRW 180,000 for 6 months and KRW 290,000 for 12 months. For imported cars, it is KRW 600,000 for 6 months and KRW 1 million for 12 months.
* The contract term is based on the 'first registration date' on the vehicle registration certificate and the actual contract date and the pick-up date can be different.


In addition, SK rent-a-car carries out a promotional event for subscribing to the ‘Per Mile automobile insurance’, a new concept that long-term rental car customers pay car insurance premiums in arrears only as much as the amount of mileage each month. It is promoted in partnership with Carrot General Insurance, which is Korea’s first digital non-life insurance company. A gift voucher worth KRW 30,000 that can be used at SK gas stations and major supermarkets such as E-Mart SK gas stations and e-mart will be gifted to the subscribers.


For more information on the affiliated service with Korea Automotive Diagnostic Assurance Society and Carrot General Insurance, please get informed through the text messages sent to the customers who have expressed their intention to take over a vehicle before the expiration of their long-term rental car contract. The information is also provided through the SK rent-a-car customer service hotline (1599-9111).
