Free EV Sharing to run for hotel guests by SK rent-a-car in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company and the Shilla Jeju

SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon), a company which has been at the forefront of the spread of EV driving experience, is to provide free EV driving experiences for hotel guests in Jeju.


The company said on the 25th that it would ‘Free EV Driving Event’ for the next two years in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company and the Shilla Jeju. With this event, the hotel guests will be given an experience of driving IONIC 5 up to six hours.


The event aims to have more customers experience driving eco-friendly EVs, improve hotel guest satisfaction, and take up a notch the value of vehicle management service.


In particular, SK rent-a-car will make it more convenient for customer to use a car sharing service through its own comprehensive vehicle management platform, ‘Smartlink’. The platform has gained popularity from B2B customers due to its outstanding company vehicle management solution. And the addition of B2C service enables individual customers to reserve and use vehicles after signing up for a membership of the platform through a mobile app.


The Shilla Jeju’s guests will be offered a voucher for IONIC 5 free driving along with a guidebook on the event starting from the 26th when they check into the hotel. One coupon per night will be given and it can be used for 30 minutes to 6 hours between 9 am through midnight.


In the event of an accident, call its customer center at 1599-9111, which is open 24/7/365. As for the issues related to the mobile application, contact Smartlink customer center (1800-2023, available from 8 am - 9 pm weekdays).


An SK rent-a-car official said, “in order to offer customers an experience of driving EVs in Jeju, the best tourist spot in Korea, a car maker, car rental company and hotel chain representing Korea have worked together to launch this event.” And he added, “following the creation of EV-exclusive complex, the largest one in Korea, we continue to furnish EV driving experience to more people through this EV sharing service targeting for hotel guests, thereby keeping pace with the transition to the era of eco-friendly EVs and rental and car sharing-centered mobility. In addition, all of these efforts will play a part in making Jeju carbon-free island.”


‘Smartlink’ is the comprehensive vehicle management system developed by SK rent-a-car in 2017. This platform provides a wide range of services tailored to customers ranging from efficient vehicle management to car sharing. As of now, ‘Smartlink’ boasts strong customer numbers, which is over 22,000 vehicles from 310 organizations encompassing major large corporations including the affiliates of SK Group, many of local governments, and taxi companies, growing as Connectivity-based Mobility Platform.
