2020-11-20

- Winner of the Excellent Design prize in the Service & Experience Design category from the most prestigious awards in the country
- Increased user convenience with UX-based design, high marks on improving the image of second-hand trading
- Series of awards won from Red Dot and IDEA and local GD Awards
... “Business competitive edge to be enhanced in collaboration with partners”

Mintit, ICT recycling brand, caught the attention of design specialists both at home and abroad.

Mintit announced on November 20th, 2020 that Mintit ATM mini, an unmanned artificial-intelligence (AI)-based machine for purchasing used phones, won the Excellent Design prize in the Service & Experience Design category from 2020 GD (Good Design) Awards hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

GD Awards is one of the prestigious design awards with 36 years of history in which candidate products are subject to an integrated evaluation based on aesthetical, functional and economic criteria. Award winners whose design excellence is recognized through the selection process are given the government-certified GD mark.

The GD award winner Mintit ATM mini is an AI-equipped machine for purchasing used phones which is designed so that person-to-person contact is not required throughout the entire phone trading process. Following last year’s Mintit ATM launch, it was newly released July this year with an upgraded customer convenience by adding several functions such as complete phone data deletion and UV sterilization. Now, Mintit ATM mini greets customers in some 2,000 SK telecom stores.

Mintit was highly appreciated in that the existing impression of difficult and rather unfriendly second-hand trading was improved by product design. Easy and simple transactions were made available as the design was based on customer experience. Analytics also showed that the product design stood out with the bright mint color, adding a positive image to second-hand trading.

In the backdrop of Mintit ATM’s award winning, lies the collaboration with INITION, a company specialized in UX design, from the initial launch phase with a focus on customer-centered design. Mintit’s collaboration with INITION was rewarded by winning a number of awards from the Red Dot Design Awards (Germany, Brand & Communication category) and IDEA (the U.S.; Digital Interaction and Service Design categories), two of the three greatest design awards, and this time the domestic GD Awards.

A Mintit executive said, “As Mintit ATM receives a number of design awards both local and foreign, it is confirmed once again that Mintit ATM’s design and service are based on customer value,” and further disclosed, “Mintit’s competitive edge will be enhanced in the future through active collaborations with various companies including INITION.”
