This new agreement is leading the development of Korea’s cutting-edge communication technology with the world’s first CDMA mobile communication technology.

The system development for ‘a car remote diagnostics service’ has been completed in the one year joint project with ‘Autus Inc.’, an enterprise of the institute under Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute. The pilot service and the final complementary work for the service is being handled by an experience group consisting of about 500 and is under way to commercialize early next year.

‘A car remote diagnostics service’ is an up-to-date service to enable drivers to ‘drive safely and economically’ acting as ‘a car information collector’. The remote embedded in the car supplies information concerning the ▲ a vehicle condition before driving ▲ car trouble ▲ replacement period for parts ▲ feul consumption ▲ driving tendencies. This information is transmitted to drivers by an exclusive navigation/cellular phone/website and through Bluetooth communication with AP (Access Points) installed in some 1,000 SK gas stations all over the country and at Speedmate shops.

The president of SK Networks Energy Marketing Co. said, “A car remote diagnostics service will radically improve the economical efficiency of driving life and vehicle and passenger safety” and expressed his will “to make a new standard of driving life by heightening technical perfection through cooperation with Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and their high level of global technology.”

In addition, SK Networks plans to increase AP up to 20,000 nationwide next year after finishing additional service development related to exclusive navigation by the end of this year prior to the commercialization in early 2009.
