On October 2, SK Networks (Chairman and CEO Man-won Jeong) held a CI unveiling ceremony at the company’s Myeongdong head office. This event, giving the company a new official symbol was also an occasion to declare its resolution to practice transparent management and to mobilize resources for an early return to normal operation.
During the unveiling ceremony, Chairman and CEO Man-won Jeong summarized the company’s present situation in these words: “In spite of the best efforts by all members of our organization, we were unable to steer away from our crisis on our own and were forced to demand sacrifices from the creditor group and shareholders. We are deeply sorry for this unfortunate development and apologize to the interested parties and community at large.” He then urged the officers and employees to “do their utmost to help recover the public’s trust by establishing a transparent and advanced governance structure and reinventing SK Networks into a strong firm achieving solid growth with continuously increasing shareholder and company values.”
SK Networks renamed itself on September 9. The new name is intended to symbolize its vast business networks, Korea’s largest both in information and communications and energy sales businesses, and to reflect the nature of its new business lines, which will be also extensively based on its network resources.
Meanwhile, the company is planning a company-wide mountain hike on October 4, also participated by key members of its creditor group, as a communal event for renewing their resolve to achieve an early return to normal operation. The outdoor event is scheduled to end with a donation of rice collected among employees to the Salvation Army.
