SK rent-a-car, the operator of the largest domestic branch for short-term car rental in Jeju, plans to render a special service for customers having difficulty in moving.
SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) made an announcement on the 1st that the company will operate a ‘manual and power wheelchair free rental service’ on a trial basis with the aim of helping Jeju branch users who walk with difficulty.
The company said that the very purpose of this service is to contribute to shaping a culture that cares about traffic-vulnerable people as well as to fulfill its social responsibilities as a mobility company that delivers a convenient driving experience to customers.
Anyone who uses a short-term car rental service at the Jeju branch and has trouble with moving qualifies for this service. Those who want to use the service can make a phone call in advance or ask for the service at the information desk of the branch on the day of picking up the rental car.
To launch this service, the company worked with Toto Works, a social venture company specializing in mobility assisting device, to develop the manual and power wheelchairs. What makes the device special is the ‘Todo Drive’ mounted on the wheelchairs, the power assist kit that is the smallest in the world and weighs just 5 kilograms, which makes it more convenient and easier for users to travel.
On top of that, SK rent-a-car is going to carry out meaningful activities aimed at creating social value. It will invite one family with a member having difficulty in traveling each week for two months until this October to have them rent the manual and power wheelchairs for free as well as to render free pickup and car rental services so that they can build a special and pleasant memory.
An SK rent-a-car official said, “we envision a world where both the disabled and non-disabled can enjoy moving freely, the most crucial and basic right. That is why we adopted this service.” He also added that SK rent-a-car continues to make multifaceted efforts to deliver a better mobility life and help people with difficulty in mobility enjoy the Jeju trip, thereby putting our slogan, ‘Move.Better.’ into action.
