SK rent-a-car, which operates the largest domestic branch for short-term car rental in Jeju, plans to expand its lineup to deliver better value to customers.
SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) made an announcement on the 8th to introduce various EV models of German premium brands, including Porsche ‘Taycan,’ Mercedes-Benz ‘EQS 350,’ and Audi ‘e-tron S,’ with the aim of giving more options to its customers.
The company’s will to meet the customers’ needs to drive a variety of EVs was behind the decision. It surveyed its EV rental customers, and the results showed that 91.3% of respondents answered that they would select an EV when they purchase or sign a long-term rental service agreement in the future.
The premium models to be adopted by the company are well-known for its expensive prices exceeding KRW 100 million. ‘Taycan,’ the first electric sport car unveiled by Porsche, features the same degree of super high performance as its internal combustion engine vehicles. ‘EQS’ is the first luxury electric sedan that belongs to the S class with Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA), the Benz’s platform dedicated to EVs, applied.
‘E-tron S’ released by Audi is the world’s first high-performance electric SUV coupe with three electric motors mounted (two on rear wheels, one on a front wheel).
SK rent-a-car, which introduced a premium electric vehicle as a short-term rental product, is prepared to actively respond to any possible accidents while offering convenience suitable for electric vehicle users. It provides a free-charging card that can be used at about 1,000 EV chargers in Jeju and operates insurance that completely covers service that does not require users to pay the full cost of repairing the vehicle in the event of an accident. More information on the rental is on the SK rent-a-car website (www.skcarrental.com).
With the extended lineups, SK rent-a-car offers a variety of domestic and foreign vehicles in its Jeju branch, broadening the range of vehicle choices for customers. In May, it equipped itself with 'Polestar 2' of a Swedish high-performance premium electric vehicle brand, Polestar, for the first time in the industry.
Additionally, in July, it placed Ssangyong' Torres,' which has drawn great attention with more than 50,000 new car contracts since the launch. From the 4th of this month, Jeep' Wrangler,' known for its strength in off-road driving, is available. In particular, the 'Overland Power Top' model enables to open the ceiling, giving the Wrangler's unique retro sentiment that enhances the good vibes of travel on Jeju Island.
An SK rent-a-car official said, "we introduced premium electric vehicles that incorporate global automakers' state-of-the-art technologies and know-how by closely listening to our customers' voices who wished to use diverse EVs when they travel to Jeju." He also added, "as a trendsetter in the industry, we will continue to raise the customer value through the proactive adoption of various domestic and overseas eco-friendly EV models."
