- Targeting the taxi control market with Smartlink's customized services in collaboration with N-mobility, a taxi operation firm owning about 9,000 units.
- Significant improvement in corporate taxi operation and settlement tasks
- “We will garner the best know-how and capabilities of the rental car and corporate taxi industry, thereby creating a top-notch corporate taxi mobility platform”
SK rent-a-car is mustering capabilities with a representative taxi operator in Korea to provide a solution that helps the taxi industry efficiently manage vehicles.
SK rent-a-car (CEO: Hwang Il-moon) announced on the 14th of September that it had signed a business contract on the previous day for building a taxi platform with N-mobility, which operates 'Navi Call' at the SK rent-a-car headquarters (located in Jongno-gu, Seoul). Officials from both companies joined at the signing ceremony, including head of BM Innovative Division at SK rent-a-car, Kim Hyeon-soo and N-mobility CEO Seo Dong-seong.
The two companies will develop a vehicle control and management support system (ERP) optimized for the taxi industry using SK rent-a-car's Smartlink under the agreement, followed by distributing it to the corporate taxi industry.
Smartlink is a total management solution for vehicles, solely developed by SK rent-a-car in 2017. It enables to check the car status, including driving route, mileage, and fuel consumption, real-time. Based on the solution, various services such as efficient car management and corporate car-sharing are provided, meeting the customers’ needs. Currently, more than 22,000 vehicles of some 310 companies, including major large corporations like SK Group, and a number of public institutions use Smartlink, a mobility-based mobility platform.
The solution customized for the taxi, developed by both companies, combines accurate and diverse driving data calculated through Smartlink with the ERP recently built by N-mobility. It allows the users to check the current status such as real-time and cumulative driving distance and time as well as daily, weekly, and monthly revenues. As the solution is based on the real-time data, we can expect higher efficiency and effectiveness of corporate taxi-related overall tasks, which were used to be done manually.
N-mobility operates 9,000 taxis in major cities across the country, such as Seoul (Navi Call), Daegu (Hanmaeum Call), and Cheongju (Shimin Call). The company will take a role to distribute the solution customized for the taxi through Smartlink to the corporate taxi industry, based on its sales know-how that has led the on-demand taxi market since 2008. On the foundation of this, a new taxi platform is expected to be established, strengthening the competitiveness of the industry.
“Smartlink is recognized as a solution not only for automobile manufacturers and parts companies but also for various mobility companies such as EV battery companies,” an SK rent-a-car official said. He also underlined, “we will create a mobility platform for the corporate taxi industry by capitalizing on the know-how and expertise accumulated over the past 30 years, on top of the maintenance services of our affiliates and partner companies.”
Prior to the agreement, SK rent-a-car also signed a 'business partnership in taxi control service using ‘Smartlink' with 'Kornatus', a taxi-sharing application operator. SK rent-a-car helped the industry without an accurate settlement technology after the abolishment of the system, in which corporate taxi drivers pay a certain amount of their earnings to the companies, taking the lead in resolving issues caused by changes in the industry environment.
